2022 ended in a crypto winter. Large sell-offs, widespread corruption, and fatal blows to the Web3 economy.
Forkast Labs emerged with an ambitious goal: to bring forward the age of data transparency and reinvigorate trust in blockchain assets.

When I joined Forkast Labs, the company was in a rapid defining and launch phase. Forkast.News had just merged with an NFT data company called CryptoSlam and had to define the product and mission within a month. I led the creative initiative as the sole product designer, and was tasked with developing the brand, index product, and landing page.

Forkast Labs is a global data, media, and web3-infrastructure company founded in 2023 through the merger of CryptoSlam and Forkast.News, both established in 2018.
The company’s purpose is to meticulously index the decentralized web, diligently organizing its abundant multi-chain data to enhance its usefulness through creative UI, empowering countless individuals to seamlessly join the thriving digital economy.
Challenges & Concerns
Negative sentiment. Recent high-profile collapses and unpredictable price swings have eroded investor confidence in the stability and security of Web3 investments.
Lack of standardization. Without universally accepted metrics or frameworks, investors struggle to assess the true worth and growth potential of Web3 projects and tokens.
Insufficient tools & information. Investors face significant challenges in accessing clear, reliable, and comprehensive data about virtual assets, hindering informed decision-making.
The Approach
Given our tight timeline, our research was primarily based on secondary sources and competitive analysis of traditional financial tools.
During this process I dug into understanding the investor psyche and behaviors, asking questions around why they need specific features and what purpose each of those serve.

Top 5 NFT Gainers and Decliners provide context on index movements based on collection performance.
Impact
We received an estimated total of 871k impressions, and were featured on news outlets like Axios, Yahoo Finance, and South China Morning Post.
Expanding Our Reach
After the hype died down, we quickly began to see engagement and site visits drop as sharply as it rose.
We shifted gears to implement features that would expand our customer reach, determining that the current state of the indexes did not meet the standards we had initially set out for.
